about how & why
how & why aims to translate scientific articles for non-scientific audiences in a fun and engaging way. Instead of focusing on scientific results, how & why will delve into the "science behind the science", asking questions like: why does this matter? is this ethical? why do we do science?

By covering popular (and unpopular) science in this way, how & why hopes to increase the public's understanding of the science at hand, but also inform critical thinking skills, provide insight into the inner-workings of science, and have a good time doing it.

how & why is run by Linsin Smith (thats me!), a fourth year PhD Candidate at the University of Chicago. As a kid, I was always interested in how the world worked, what drove people, and how to make them laugh. With a degree in Biology and Theatre, and a passion for science communication, I hope to raise science awareness in a fun and exciting way.
